Monica Olander is a highly experienced Critical Care Registered Nurse at Essentia Health–St. Mary’s Medical Center, where she has dedicated more than four decades to excellence in patient care. Specializing in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), she is known for her expertise, compassion, and unwavering commitment to her patients and colleagues.

Throughout her distinguished career, Monica has been recognized multiple times for her outstanding work, being a three-time recipient of the Daisy Award and featured as an “Angel Nurse.” Her contributions extend beyond bedside care, as she has also been an active member of the SMMC Ethics Committee, contributing to discussions that guide compassionate and ethical clinical decision-making.

Monica earned her Diploma in Nursing from St. Cloud Hospital School of Nursing and later completed her Bachelor of Science in Health Arts at The University of St. Francis, Joliet, Illinois.

What I enjoy most about practicing medicine is bedside critical care nursing. I find deep fulfillment in caring for patients during their most vulnerable moments and being part of their recovery process.
