Michelle Sherrod, AGPCNP-BC, MSN, RN
Michelle Sherrod, AGPCNP-BC, MSN, RN, is a board-certified Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner and experienced nursing leader with more than 22 years of progressive experience in emergency medicine, critical care, transport nursing, and hospital administration. She currently serves as a weekend House Supervisor at Baldwin Health in Gulf Shores, Alabama, where she oversees hospital operations, staffing coordination, patient flow, and clinical support to ensure safe and efficient care delivery during high-demand periods.
Michelle’s nursing career began in emergency medicine, where she spent over two decades developing strong clinical judgment and the ability to perform effectively in fast-paced, high-acuity environments. She also gained valuable experience in critical care transport, working with both EMS and fixed-wing air medical services, further strengthening her expertise in acute and emergency patient management. These early experiences built the foundation for her leadership style and commitment to patient-centered care.
In addition to her clinical and leadership roles, Michelle serves as an Adjunct Instructor and Clinical Educator at Coastal Alabama Community College, where she teaches fundamental nursing skills and guides students through hands-on learning experiences in skills labs and long-term care settings. Her passion for education grew through mentoring nursing students in clinical environments, where she discovered a deep commitment to geriatric care and long-term patient relationships.
Michelle’s academic background reflects her dedication to lifelong learning and professional growth. She earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from Southwest Tennessee Community College and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Southern New Hampshire University. She later completed her Master of Science in Nursing at Chamberlain University and achieved board certification as an Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner. She continues to expand her expertise through ongoing professional development and leadership involvement.
Driven by a strong mission to serve vulnerable populations, Michelle is deeply committed to improving health literacy, promoting equity in healthcare, and enhancing the quality of life for older adults. She is an active member of professional organizations including Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and the Alabama Nurses Association. Outside of her clinical and academic responsibilities, she remains focused on advancing compassionate, patient-centered care and supporting the next generation of healthcare professionals.
