Michelle Davis, FNP-BC

Michelle Davis is a Family Nurse Practitioner with more than 30 years of nursing experience and over 20 years in advanced practice as a nurse practitioner. She specializes in pediatric and adult primary care, providing comprehensive, patient-centered care with a strong focus on health education, prevention, and medication management. Her clinical approach is rooted in empathy, professionalism, and a long-standing commitment to improving patient understanding and outcomes.

Michelle brings extensive clinical experience from both hospital and outpatient settings. As a registered nurse, she worked across high-acuity environments including ICU, ER, telemetry, and multiple specialized intensive care units such as medical-surgical trauma, neuro, burn, and trauma emergency care. This broad foundation in critical care has shaped her clinical judgment and strengthened her ability to manage complex patient needs across the lifespan.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Clemson University in 1988, followed by her Master of Science in Nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1993. She later completed her Family Nurse Practitioner certification at the University of South Carolina in 1997 and holds national certification through the ANCC as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Throughout her career, Michelle has also contributed to community and professional education through public speaking engagements. These include bi-monthly Lunch and Learn sessions at Roper Hospital while working in Mount Pleasant, as well as presentations at local churches and health fairs. Although these speaking engagements occurred earlier in her career and are not recent, they reflect her long-standing commitment to patient and community education.

Michelle is especially passionate about helping patients understand their medications, including potential interactions, contraindications, and safe usage. She attributes her success to empathy, dedication, and professionalism, values that have guided her throughout her career. Looking ahead, she has expressed interest in expanding her work into wound care and continuing to grow her clinical expertise.

Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

What I enjoy most about my work is educating patients about their medications and treatment regimens. I find it especially rewarding to help individuals understand how to take their medications correctly and to ensure they are aware of potential interactions, potentiation's, and contraindications. My primary goal is for patients to feel confident and informed about what they are taking. For me, care goes beyond prescribing—it is about making sure patients truly understand their treatment and the reasons behind it.
