Michael Hecht, MD

Michael Hecht, MD, is a practicing pediatrician at Williamsburg Pediatrics, a healthcare innovator, and the CEO and CMO of BairWise, the company behind WELL, an AI-powered patient and provider engagement platform. With more than a decade of experience in direct patient care, Dr. Hecht brings a clinician’s perspective to healthcare technology, ensuring solutions are grounded in real-world practice and patient needs. He continues to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care to children and families while advancing innovation in clinical workflows.

Dr. Hecht founded WELL to address critical gaps in clinical workflow, communication, and continuity of care. The platform enables patients to share their medical history prior to visits while equipping clinicians with structured insights and diagnostic support during encounters. His work focuses on reducing cognitive burden for providers, improving care coordination, and creating more thoughtful, sustainable healthcare experiences for both patients and clinicians. WELL is currently piloting in clinical settings, including pediatric practices, with plans to expand across additional specialties and care environments.

A graduate of SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine, Dr. Hecht also holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Cornell University. He is deeply interested in the intersection of medicine and artificial intelligence and believes the most meaningful healthcare innovation is driven by firsthand clinical experience. Dr. Hecht actively engages with clinicians, health system leaders, builders, and investors who are exploring how AI can be responsibly and effectively integrated into modern healthcare delivery.
