Michael J. Fahey, MD, FACS

Dr. Michael J. Fahey, MD, FACS, is a seasoned general surgeon who has been practicing since 1988. He earned his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine before completing a rigorous and uniquely comprehensive surgical residency at Letterman Army Medical Center through the United States Army. His residency training provided extensive exposure across head and neck surgery, vascular surgery, and general surgery — a breadth of experience that is uncommon in modern surgical programs. Dr. Fahey served in the Army until 1992, developing the discipline and clinical precision that continue to define his practice today.

Since completing his military service, Dr. Fahey has practiced in Yuba City, located in California’s Central Valley about 45 minutes north of Sacramento. He provides comprehensive general surgical care to patients of all ages, treating conditions such as hernias, gallbladder disease, breast cancer, and colon cancer. Approximately four years ago, he expanded his skill set to include robotic surgery and now performs robotic inguinal and ventral hernia repairs, robotic gallbladder surgery, and colon procedures at a 14-bed short-stay hospital. In addition to traditional patients, he also treats workers’ compensation cases — an area many physicians avoid due to administrative complexity.

Approaching his 70th birthday, Dr. Fahey has intentionally chosen to practice in a smaller hospital setting without an ICU, while still offering advanced minimally invasive options through robotic and laparoscopic techniques. He believes strongly in tailoring each surgical plan to the individual patient’s risk profile and overall health. Whether that means robotic, laparoscopic, or open surgery, his priority remains delivering the safest, most appropriate care for every patient he serves.
