Mary L. Blake, ANP-C, PMHNP-C
Mary L. Blake, ANP-C, PMHNP-C, is a dually certified Adult and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 25 years of nursing experience. She began her nursing career in 1999 after earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from SUNY Brockport, following earlier degrees in communications. Mary built a strong clinical foundation with 14 years of experience in intensive care, working across medical, surgical, and cardiac ICU settings. Driven to expand her impact, she earned her Master of Science in Nursing from UNC Greensboro in 2011 and became certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner in 2012, later advancing her expertise by completing her Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification through University of Cincinnati in 2022.
Mary currently balances two professional roles, combining clinical expertise with a patient-centered approach to care. She works as an independent contractor with Signify Health, where she conducts in-home health assessments for insurance providers, and is the founder of Align Mental Health and Wellness, her private practice launched in February 2025. Through her practice, Mary provides both telehealth and in-person services for adults experiencing conditions such as major depression, generalized anxiety, bipolar disorder, and insomnia. She integrates psychotherapy with medication management, offering comprehensive and individualized treatment plans designed to improve overall mental health and daily functioning.
Known for her thoughtful and thorough approach, Mary dedicates significant time to each patient, with initial consultations lasting 60–90 minutes to ensure a complete assessment and clear understanding of diagnoses and treatment options. Her care philosophy centers on education, empowerment, and meeting patients where they are in their journey. A member of professional organizations such as the American Nurses Association and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Mary remains committed to lifelong learning and excellence in care. Looking ahead, she aims to expand Align Mental Health and Wellness into a group practice, continuing her mission to provide accessible, high-quality mental health services to her community.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
I love helping people, helping them feel better and have a better quality of life than when they met me, when they first had their first visit. It's very fulfilling. With my practice, I love that I can take as much time as I want to with my patients. I'm not limited to a 15-minute visit or even a 30-minute visit. My intakes are 60 to 90 minutes. I want to assess, get to know them, what's going on, the background. The next visit is when we discuss the treatment plan. I make sure my patients fully understand how I came to their diagnosis and what our med options are, how meds work without overwhelming them. But they come away with a lot of education about their diagnoses and the meds they're taking. And I wouldn't be able to do that if I worked for a private practice. Having your own practice is a lot of work - I'm up till 11, 12 o'clock streamlining processes, there's always something you can find that needs to be done better. But it doesn't feel like work when you work for yourself. It definitely feels different. Yeah, you get tired, you gotta rest, but it doesn't feel like work like you're working for someone else.
