COL Mark A. Hurd

COL Mark Hurd is a distinguished Army executive and strategic operations leader with over 20 years of experience driving large-scale initiatives across the Department of Defense. With a proven record of integrating multimillion-dollar programs, he excels in strategic planning, resource management, and building high-performing teams in complex, fast-paced environments. As he transitions from active service, he brings deep expertise in operational design, organizational leadership, and enterprise-level project management—supported by an active DoD TS/SCI clearance.

Throughout his military career, COL Hurd has served in pivotal leadership roles, including ACoS Operations G3/5/7, Deputy Surgeon for I Corps, Deputy Chief of Operations for the Defense Health Agency, and Chief of Current Operations for U.S. Army Medical Command. His experience spans national-level readiness, medical operations, and large-scale organizational transitions, including supporting the Military Health System’s transformation under the DHA. His work reflects a consistent dedication to improving systems, strengthening readiness, and enhancing the well-being of service members and families. His academic background includes a master’s degree in Military Strategic Studies from The U.S. Army War College and an MBA in Business and Project Management from Webster University, along with advanced training such as Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification.

Beyond his operational leadership, COL Hurd is deeply committed to community engagement and public service. He is passionate about volunteerism in areas such as civil rights, child welfare, workforce development, education, diversity and inclusion, veteran support, and community improvement. His leadership philosophy emphasizes integrity, collaboration, and the development of others—reflected in his active participation in professional dialogue, mentorship, and thought leadership around military medicine, human performance, and transformational leadership.
