Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

I do love flight nursing work, and it's been a good fit for me. When I first started, a friend invited me to try it and said they were having more fun than I could believe. I started flying on a little local startup venture, and it just clicked immediately. I realized, oh hey, I can do this. That started me off on that trajectory in my career, and I've flown on aircraft of various different sorts off and on through the years ever since. The work involves going to a base location for 24-hour shifts, staying on standby, and responding when requests come in from local EMS or hospitals calling about catastrophes or emergencies. It's been rewarding work throughout my career, though I'm now getting to the place where I don't want to be up all night long anymore and am looking to transition to something more home-based.
