Marina Diaz-Fonseca, RN
Marina Diaz-Fonseca is a dedicated registered nurse currently practicing in emergency medicine at Montefiore Moses Campus and Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital. With experience in fast-paced emergency departments serving diverse patient populations, she provides compassionate, patient-centered care as part of an interdisciplinary team. Marina is skilled in rapid assessment, stabilization, and collaboration with physicians and specialists to ensure safe and effective outcomes. In addition to her hospital role, she also works per diem as a school nurse, supporting students across elementary, middle, and high school settings.
Before transitioning into nursing, Marina spent nearly nine years with New York Blood Center as a Donor Specialist and Apheresis Technician. In this role, she collected whole blood, platelets, plasma, and double red blood cells for distribution to hospitals throughout the region. Her responsibilities included donor assessment, pre- and post-care, and delivering exceptional customer service. This experience strengthened her clinical foundation and deepened her commitment to patient advocacy and community health.
Marina earned her Associate’s degree in Nursing from Rockland Community College and is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Capella University, with anticipated completion in June 2026. She plans to continue her education by obtaining her Family Nurse Practitioner degree. Her path into nursing was profoundly shaped by her father’s battle with stage 3 liver cancer and his passing in 2016. Inspired by the compassionate care he received, Marina approaches every patient as if they were a member of her own family, honoring his legacy through empathy, dedication, and excellence in care.
