Margaret Martin, RN

Margaret Martin, RN is a registered nurse with 42 years of diverse clinical experience spanning neurology, critical care, interventional radiology, emergency department, operating room, and pre-operative assessment. Throughout her career, she held supervisory roles and developed a reputation for her adaptability, quick learning, and ability to integrate new systems and technologies. Margaret’s expertise in patient care coordination, combined with her attention to detail, made her a trusted resource across multiple clinical specialties.

Her most recent role was in a pre-operative testing center, where she conducted comprehensive patient interviews, reviewed medical charts, performed EKGs, and drew blood to ensure patients were thoroughly prepared for surgery. Her focus on research, investigative patient assessment, and coordination with anesthesia departments helped surgical teams operate safely and efficiently. Early in her career, Margaret was inspired to enter nursing by a neighbor who was an RN and by her high school best friend’s mother, a hospice nurse. This influence cultivated her expertise in end-of-life care and supporting families through difficult transitions, which she carried throughout her career.

Margaret retired in March after four decades of dedicated service but continues to maintain her nursing license and certifications. She remains open to PRN opportunities that align with her strengths in research, patient assessment, chart review, and non-physical care roles. Her enduring passion for patient safety, clinical excellence, and meticulous care coordination makes her a valued resource for healthcare teams seeking experienced nursing insight.

Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

I love doing research in the testing center, looking up patients' charts and trying to find all their information and get it together before their operations, you know, getting them ready for the OR. That's stuff I like doing, searching and pulling all their stuff for the anesthesia department, getting them ready so they'd be safe. So, that was something I liked doing. I really enjoyed the investigative aspect of nursing, making sure patients were thoroughly prepared and that we had everything we needed to keep them safe during surgery.
