Margaret Hoggard is a registered nurse, healthcare professional, and the Owner & Founder of Heart Touch Home Care, a non-medical home care agency serving Oakland, Wayne, and Macomb counties in Michigan. Based in the United States, she leads the organization with a patient-centered philosophy rooted in compassion, dignity, and reliability. Through her work in both clinical settings and home care leadership, she is dedicated to improving access to high-quality, personalized care for individuals and families in need. With over a decade of experience in the healthcare field, Margaret brings a strong combination of clinical expertise and hands-on caregiving to her work. She is also an alumna of the University of Michigan, where she strengthened her foundation in healthcare and patient support. What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
I realized early on that I like what I can bring to the elderly and that I can make a change. True care goes beyond routines and medical support - it's about making people feel genuinely cared for and not just treated like another task. Working in different fields and with people from all walks of life, I saw so much that needed to be done, especially in facilities where I witnessed the lack of care and residents suffering. I knew that as an individual, I couldn't make a change at a big facility like that, but I knew I could start somewhere. That's why starting Heart Touch Home Care was so important to me - it's not just a job, we're family with our residents. I want people to feel cared for, valued, and supported, not just receive medical support.
