Mable Angel Fisher

Mabel “Angel” Fisher is a dedicated Home Health Aide and private-duty caregiver with over four decades of experience providing compassionate care to seniors and hospice patients. Her career began in 1982 in Queenstown, Maryland, after a personal promise to devote her life to caregiving following a formative experience with her grandfather at the VA hospital. Prior to entering healthcare, she worked as a cosmetologist and hairdresser, but her calling led her to focus on home care, where she has built a career centered on compassion, patience, and personalized attention.

Over her 34-year career, Angel has served clients through agencies across multiple Maryland counties, including Queen Anne's, Anne Arundel, and Talbot. In recent years, she has focused on private-call assignments, working directly with clients who seek her specialized support. She holds a Certified Geriatrics Assistant (CGA) credential, First Aid and CPR certifications, and previously held a MedTech license. Her work is distinguished by a family-style approach to care, emphasizing dignity, respect, and individualized attention for each patient.

Angel’s professional philosophy is deeply rooted in faith and service. She treats every patient as she would a loved one, aiming to provide comfort and support in both everyday and end-of-life care. Her dedication has been recognized through numerous personal and professional milestones, including being selected for America’s Best in Medicine 2026 to represent Maryland. Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

I love taking care of people. It's just something where you get a reward, and it's not always financial. Most of mine are spiritual rewards, and I love it that way. I've learned so much in these years from what I've done, and I continue to learn. It has been my joy all my life. It has set my footprints in life by taking care of other people. I feel like I am the best home care aide because I take care of people the way I want someone to take care of my loved ones. Sometimes you know what a person wants if you know them before they speak. I like when it's the midnight shift because that's when people are in pain a lot. I've been through some pain myself with car accidents that tore my back up, but when people ask why I still pick up people, I say because God helps me pick them up and it doesn't hurt. I used to do it anyway even when it hurt because I knew when I came home, God would make it better. I love seniors and I think they need to be our top focus in this world because they led the way. I find that seniors and older people are worried about cost of living and heating bills, and it shouldn't be like that. When I work at Harris Teeter now, I find that when seniors come in, I make a way to them to ask if I can help them, because I am a senior person and I love seniors.
