Lorraine J. Feder, BSN, RN

Lorraine J. Feder, BSN, RN, is a dedicated neurosurgery stepdown nurse at UI Health, where she provides evidence-based, patient-centered care to individuals with complex neurological conditions. Though recently joining the organization, she has quickly distinguished herself through her reliability, critical thinking, and trauma-informed approach. With a strong foundation in the biological, chemical, and physical sciences, Lorraine combines clinical precision with compassion to support patients through vulnerable and highly complex stages of care.

Prior to her current role, Lorraine gained valuable academic and leadership experience as an Anatomy & Physiology II Lab Assistant at Oakton College. In this role, she supported undergraduate students through hands-on instruction, cadaver lab facilitation, and individualized mentorship, helping foster safe learning environments and build confidence in foundational medical sciences. Her early research in cellular biology, studies on antibiotic resistance, and years of community volunteer service further shaped her holistic perspective on health, illness, and human resilience.

Lorraine is deeply committed to lifelong learning, ethical medical practice, chronic disease prevention, and integrative models of care. As a trauma-informed IIN Certified Health Coach, she values whole-person wellness and empowering both patients and peers. A graduate of Dominican University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, cum laude, Lorraine is recognized for her academic excellence, leadership, and dedication to human flourishing. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking and baking as creative outlets that bring balance and joy to her life.
