Lorraine J. Feder, BSN, RN

Lorraine J. Feder, BSN, RN, is a dedicated neurosurgery stepdown nurse at UI Health, where she brings a strong clinical foundation, a passion for neuroscience, and an unwavering commitment to patient-centered care. Recently joining the organization, she has quickly distinguished herself through her reliability, critical thinking, and trauma-informed approach. With a background rooted in biological, chemical, and physical sciences, Lorraine delivers evidence-based, compassionate care to patients navigating complex neurological conditions.

Before entering her current role, Lorraine gained meaningful academic and leadership experience as an Anatomy & Physiology II Lab Assistant at Oakton College. In this position, she supported undergraduate students through hands-on instruction, cadaver lab guidance, and individualized mentorship, fostering safe learning environments and building students’ confidence in foundational medical sciences. Her early research in cellular biology, work on antibiotic resistance, and years of community volunteer service further shaped her holistic understanding of health, illness, and human resilience.

Lorraine is deeply committed to lifelong learning, chronic disease prevention, integrative care models, and advancing ethical medical practice. As a trauma-informed IIN Certified Health Coach, she values whole-person wellness and the importance of empowering patients and peers alike. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking and baking—creative outlets that bring her balance and joy. Lorraine holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Dominican University, graduating cum laude, and is recognized for her academic excellence, leadership, and dedication to human flourishing.
