Lori Hitchcock is a seasoned psychotherapist and the owner of Summit Mental Health Outreach, where she has dedicated over sixteen years to supporting individuals, couples, and families through compassionate and evidence-based care. Her private practice provides psychotherapy for a wide range of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. Lori is particularly committed to offering an affirming and inclusive environment for clients of all backgrounds, including members of the LGBTQ+ community.

In addition to her private practice, Lori has served as a Professor of Psychology at Metropolitan State University of Denver since 2008, where she teaches courses such as Death and Dying, Psychology of Women, Theories of Personality, and Social Psychology. Her teaching emphasizes empathy, self-awareness, and intellectual curiosity, inspiring students to explore the complexity of human behavior while fostering personal growth. Lori’s dual roles as clinician and educator allow her to bridge theory and practice, continually enhancing her therapeutic work through academic insight and real-world experience.

Lori earned her degree from the University of the Rockies, where she developed a strong foundation in clinical psychology and counseling techniques. She attributes her success to overcoming life’s difficulties, which have instilled in her resilience, empathy, and perseverance. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, fishing, working with leather, jeeping, and rock climbing. She also enjoys reading Psychology Today, staying engaged with new ideas and perspectives in mental health and human behavior. Through Summit Mental Health Outreach, Lori continues to help clients find healing, balance, and personal fulfillment.
