Lisa Amthor is a highly experienced Registered Nurse with over 30 years in nursing, specializing in endoscopy, ambulatory surgery, critical care, and infection prevention. She currently serves at Hudson Valley Endoscopy Center in Fishkill, New York, where she provides comprehensive peri-procedural nursing care for patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. Her expertise spans pre-procedure assessment, moderate sedation monitoring, post-procedure recovery, discharge education, and oversight of endoscope reprocessing and high-level disinfection, ensuring patient safety and regulatory compliance in a high-volume GI environment.

Prior to her current role, Lisa spent more than two decades at Danbury Hospital in Connecticut, working extensively in both PACU and ICU settings. She provided critical care nursing, including recovery from cardiothoracic surgery, and led infection prevention programs supporting procedural services and endoscopy operations. Lisa also served as a clinical resource for regulatory compliance, scope handling standards, and infection prevention initiatives, earning respect for her clinical judgment and dedication to patient safety.

Lisa began her nursing education at Queensborough Community College, earning her Associate’s degree in 1996, and later completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Western Connecticut State University in 2012. She is licensed to practice in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, holds certification in infection control (CIC), and previously held CCRN certification during her critical care years. Lisa is an active member of professional organizations including APIC and SGNA, reflecting her commitment to ongoing professional development and excellence in nursing practice.

Throughout her career, Lisa has remained passionate about connecting with and helping people, viewing nursing as a true calling. She is currently working per diem and exploring opportunities in consulting and education, particularly focusing on infection control and endoscopy safety. Her dedication to patient care, mentorship, and professional growth continues to define her work, making her a trusted and highly respected nurse in both hospital and ambulatory surgery settings.

What I enjoy most about nursing is the opportunity to connect with and help people. It may sound simple, but these connections are meaningful, and being able to make a difference in someone’s care is what has kept me passionate about this profession for over 30 years. Every interaction with a patient is an opportunity to provide comfort, reassurance, and expert care, and that is what continues to drive me.
