Colorade Springs, CO 80919

Laurel-Lyn Blair is a dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant based in Colorado Springs, Colorado, with over seven years of experience in long-term care, hospice, dementia care, and home health. She began her career in Arizona, earning her CNA certification just three months before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Starting at Oasis Nursing Pavilion and Rehab, she worked on one of the first units impacted by the virus, quickly adapting in a high-pressure environment as many seasoned healthcare workers left the field. This early experience shaped her resilience, clinical confidence, and deep commitment to patient care.

Throughout her career, Laurel-Lyn has developed a strong specialization in hospice and memory care, where she provides compassionate, patient-centered support during some of life’s most vulnerable moments. She is also a certified phlebotomist, expanding her clinical skill set across both facility-based and home health settings. Hospice care, in particular, holds special meaning for her, as it allows her to build meaningful one-on-one connections with patients while offering comfort, dignity, and emotional support at the end of life.

Currently working with TheKey (Home Care Assistance | Soins à Domicile), Laurel-Lyn continues to serve her community while pursuing her goal of becoming a Medical Assistant. Having returned to Colorado Springs to be closer to family, she remains grounded in her faith and actively involved in her church community at Trace Church. Her journey into healthcare was inspired by her own recovery and a desire to help others, and she brings empathy, strength, and purpose to every patient interaction.

Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

What I enjoy most is being of service to others and the deep connections I build with my patients. In hospice especially, there's something truly beautiful and special about the work. I get to spend quality one-on-one time with each person - I schedule an hour for each of my patients, and during that time I get to learn their different stories and provide comfort. A lot of people say hospice must be so hard and scary because you're working with people who are dying, but you learn so much and there's real beauty in it. I also love working in long-term care facilities where you have these people as long as you work there and you become close to them. Even outside of work, I find myself caring for my elderly neighbor, helping him with his medical needs and advocating for his health. The relationships I build and the opportunity to make a difference in people's lives during vulnerable times is what keeps me passionate about this work.
