Driven by compassion and a mission to empower others, Kristina Silverman is a licensed occupational therapist and founder of KSOT – Kristina Silverman Occupational Therapy, APC, a private practice dedicated to helping individuals age safely, independently, and confidently at home. Her holistic approach blends clinical expertise, functional design, and personalized care, creating accessible living spaces that allow clients to live with confidence, dignity, and purpose.

A proud alumna of the University of Southern California (USC), Kristina holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in occupational therapy, as well as a bachelor’s in communication with a minor in business law. Her diverse background uniquely integrates science, strategy, and service, enabling her to educate, advocate, and innovate for accessible universal design and home safety at the forefront of the aging-in-place revolution across California and the United States.

Kristina’s work goes far beyond therapy. As a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS), Senior Home Safety Specialist (SHSS), and recipient of an Executive Certificate in Home Modifications (ECHM), Kristina collaborates with architects, engineers, contractors, realtors, designers, and community organizations to transform living spaces into functional, barrier-free environments. Her practice, KSOT, serves the Santa Clarita Valley and surrounding regions, where she is recognized for her evidence-based, client-centered care.

Beyond her clinical practice, Kristina co-founded the Build 4 Life Foundation, a nonprofit coalition uniting healthcare and construction professionals to advocate and promote accessible housing and home modification education. She is also an active member of Serving Our Seniors (SOS), a Santa Clarita Valley network of professionals dedicated to supporting older adults through education, advocacy, and collaborative community initiatives. She regularly contributes to community workshops, business expos, and educational programs that empower seniors, caregivers, and professionals alike. Through these leadership roles, Kristina works to build awareness, foster partnerships, and create lasting change in how communities support aging in place.

A former USC National Champion athlete, Kristina brings the same focus, discipline, teamwork, and resilience from her soccer career into her clinical practice. Today, she channels that drive into helping others achieve strength, balance, mobility, and independence in their own lives. She is passionate about helping clients navigate their daily environments with confidence, emphasizing comfort, accessibility, and safety at every step. Her guiding philosophy — “Thrive at home with confidence and ease” — reflects both her passion for her profession and her vision to lead a movement that redefines how our nation supports aging, independence, and home safety for generations to come.

Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

What I enjoy most about practicing medicine is the ability to apply my clinical expertise to improve people’s function, safety, and independence where it matters most—at home. I love the problem-solving aspect of occupational therapy: assessing how medical conditions/life setbacks impact daily life and designing evidence-based interventions that restore mobility, prevent injury, and enhance overall quality of life. Being able to support recovery while promoting long-term health and autonomy is deeply fulfilling.
