Kimberly Washington, RN

Kimberly Washington, MSN, RN, is a dedicated nurse and educator with more than a decade of experience in clinical care, healthcare consulting, and nursing education. She began her nursing journey in 2012 as a licensed practical nurse after graduating from Louisiana Delta Technical College and later advanced her career by completing an RN bridge program at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. Over the years, she has built a broad clinical background, gaining hands-on experience in specialties including telemetry, medical-surgical nursing, mother and baby care, gynecology, pediatrics, postpartum, and antepartum care. Her early career included eight years at LSU Monroe, where she developed a strong foundation in patient-centered care across multiple hospital departments. Committed to professional growth and education, Kimberly went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Capella University and a Master of Science in Nursing Education from Herzing University. From 2021 to January 2026, she served as a Senior Nursing Consultant with United Healthcare through Optum WellMed, where she worked directly with providers to support education around diagnosis coding and documentation for Medicare and Medicaid patients. Throughout her consulting work, she continued practicing bedside nursing, focusing on med-surg and telemetry patients. She has also contributed to the next generation of nurses, teaching LVN and RN students at Tarrant Community College during her graduate practicum. A deeply personal experience reshaped Kimberly’s professional goals when she lost her mother in May 2023 and experienced profound grief. The mental health support she received during that time inspired her to transition into psychiatric nursing so she could help others facing similar challenges. She is currently pursuing her second master’s degree at Herzing University to become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, with an expected graduation in April 2027, and has recently begun in-person clinical training focused on psychopharmacology and mental health care. Kimberly’s long-term vision is to open her own practice alongside a family nurse practitioner partner, creating a community-focused clinic that supports mental wellness while building a meaningful legacy for her two daughters.
