Kimberly Poindexter, BSN, RN-BC
I received my nursing license in 2009 after graduating from Wichita State University with my BSN, where I studied from August 2005 to May 2009. Over the past 17 years, I've developed expertise across multiple areas of nursing. I started out in med-surg and then progressed to progressive care and cardiac step down units. I've also worked in behavioral health, nursing administration, and nursing education. For most of my nursing career, I was with Ascension St. Joseph, but about 18 months ago I made the decision to become a travel nurse through Aya Healthcare, and I absolutely love it - it's something I should have done a long time ago. Currently, I'm working as a travel nurse in Kansas, often putting in 5 to 6 twelve-hour night shifts per week. In addition to my clinical work, I serve as an adjunct clinical instructor for nursing students at WSU Tech, which used to be called Wichita Area Technical College. They have both an ADN program and an LPN program there. I also volunteer with the National Council of State Boards of Nursing in Chicago. This past January, I was honored to receive a Daisy Award, which was a meaningful recognition of my patient care. I'm board certified as an RN-BC, and I continue to be passionate about providing excellent nursing care while also helping to educate the next generation of nurses.
