Kimberly Poindexter, BSN, RN-BC

Kimberly Poindexter, BSN, RN-BC, is a highly experienced registered nurse and healthcare leader based in Wichita, Kansas. With over 17 years in the nursing profession, she has cultivated a diverse clinical background spanning medical/surgical care, progressive care/cardiac step-down units, behavioral health, nursing administration, and nursing education. Kimberly currently serves as the BSN, RN-BC House Supervisor at Ascension Via Christi, the largest healthcare organization in the Wichita area, where she provides leadership, guidance, and support to staff, patients, and visitors while ensuring adherence to organizational policies and evidence-based practices.

A graduate of Wichita State University, Kimberly earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and has maintained board certification (RN-BC) throughout her career. She is certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and ANCC Medical/Surgical Nursing. Kimberly’s dedication to professional growth and excellence is further demonstrated through her active membership and mentorship with the American Nurses Association and her membership in the American College of Healthcare Executives.

In addition to her clinical and administrative work, Kimberly is passionate about nursing education. She serves as an adjunct clinical instructor at WSU Tech, facilitating collaborative learning and guiding nursing students through hands-on clinical experiences. Her commitment to advancing the next generation of nurses reflects her belief in giving back to the profession, sharing knowledge, experience, and wisdom to ensure that patients receive competent and compassionate care. Kimberly was recognized for her outstanding patient care with a Daisy Award in 2024, an honor that highlights her compassionate and impactful nursing practice.

Outside of her professional responsibilities, Kimberly embraces travel nursing, which allows her to gain new experiences and expand her clinical expertise. She balances her demanding career with personal pursuits and community involvement, demonstrating a commitment not only to her patients but also to the broader healthcare field. Her career objective is to continue serving in leadership and educational roles while ultimately pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing Education and/or a Master of Healthcare Administration to further advance her impact as a nurse leader.
