Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

What really drew me to nursing was the opportunity to connect with people and make a real difference in their lives. Nursing is so much more than just clinical skills - it's about connection, it's about compassion, it's about advocating for your patients. I wanted to be able to come in and make an impact, sometimes a lasting impact, on patients and their families during what is often the worst day of their lives. Working in the ER, I saw firsthand the incredible impact that nurses had on patients and families, and that was really inspiring to me. Now, as a manager, I get to influence patient care on a larger scale. I'm a big believer that if I take care of my staff, they will take care of the patients, and patient outcomes are better. When your employees are happier and feel like they're valued, that's really my way of giving back to them. Even though I may not be directly bedside, my ultimate goal every day is to make sure that we're taking care of our patients to the best of our ability, with the best outcomes that we can.
