Kevin Calderón Betancourt, APRN, FNP-C
Kevin Calderón Betancourt, APRN, FNP-C, is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and an emerging leader in nursing whose career seamlessly bridges clinical practice, education, and research. With over eight years of experience in nursing, Kevin has developed a strong foundation in critical care, serving in roles such as Intensive Care Nurse at UPR Hospital Dr. Federico Trilla and Cardiovascular Intensive Care Nurse at the Cardiovascular Center of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. His dedication to patient care and clinical excellence has earned him recognition as a Top Nurse Practitioner in Puerto Rico by Best in Medicine.
Currently, Kevin serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus, where he mentors nursing students in clinical simulation and anesthesia programs. He focuses on developing students’ technical skills, clinical judgment, and professional confidence, shaping the next generation of advanced practice clinicians. His academic journey includes a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Puerto Rico and a Master’s degree in Family Nurse Practitioner from Universidad Ana G. Méndez, where he passed his national board certification on the first attempt. Kevin plans to continue advancing his expertise through a Doctor of Nursing Practice program, reflecting his commitment to lifelong learning and leadership in healthcare.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Kevin actively engages in scholarly research, particularly focusing on elderly patients and the psychosocial aspects of nursing care. He balances academic and clinical responsibilities by working in both public and private healthcare settings, maintaining close ties to direct patient care. Outside of healthcare, Kevin channels his discipline and teamwork into professional volleyball in Puerto Rico, demonstrating his dedication to collaboration and personal growth. Through his work in education, research, and clinical practice, Kevin Calderón Betancourt embodies the evolving role of the nurse practitioner as both a leader and a mentor in the healthcare community.
