Keagan B. LeBlanc, RN

Keagan LeBlanc, RN, has devoted her nursing career to serving the students and families of Vermilion Parish in Abbeville, Louisiana. A graduate of the nationally recognized nursing program at University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2012—ranked number one in the nation at the time—Keagan has built a well-rounded clinical background across multiple healthcare settings. She began her career as a telemetry nurse and charge nurse working night shifts, where she strengthened her critical thinking and leadership skills in fast-paced hospital environments.

Eager to broaden her experience, Keagan later managed patient care at a local optometry practice, conducting eye screenings and supporting vision health initiatives. She also worked as a surgical circulator, a role she describes as her favorite, where she thrived in the operating room environment and collaborated closely with surgical teams to ensure patient safety and procedural efficiency. Each step of her journey expanded her clinical expertise and reinforced her commitment to compassionate, detail-oriented care.

Today, Keagan serves as a school nurse overseeing four campuses—two elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school—while also coordinating parish-wide vision and hearing screenings across 20 schools each fall. Her role demands autonomy and sound clinical judgment, as she operates independently without direct physician oversight. She manages student health plans, documentation, medication administration training for staff, and daily health needs while traveling between campuses. The first nurse in her family, Keagan credits her success to her drive, determination, competitive spirit, and natural ability to connect with others. Now balancing her professional calling with raising three children, she has found a fulfilling role that allows her to make a meaningful impact in healthcare while maintaining the flexibility her family values most.
