Kate Oland-Galligan, PT, DPT
Kate Oland-Galligan, PT, DPT, is a physical therapist with 21 years of clinical experience dedicated to advancing a more holistic, patient-centered approach to care. She is the founder of Thrive Holistic Physical Therapy in Glen Carbon, Illinois, which she opened in November 2020 and transitioned into full-time practice approximately two years ago. Prior to establishing her private practice, she worked in home health care with A&W Home Health Care. After years within traditional healthcare systems, she recognized the toll it was taking on her clinical empathy and professional fulfillment, prompting her to take greater ownership of her practice environment and patient care model. Today, she has reconnected with her passion for physical therapy through a practice that prioritizes individualized, hands-on healing.
Clinically, Kate is an expert-level myofascial release physical therapist trained in the John F. Barnes approach, with additional expertise in dry needling. Her work focuses on restoring mobility, reducing pain, and addressing the underlying fascial and structural contributors to dysfunction. She is committed to helping patients achieve meaningful, lasting outcomes through individualized treatment plans that integrate advanced manual therapy techniques with a whole-body perspective on recovery and wellness.
In addition to her clinical work, Kate serves as an adjunct instructor at Saint Louis University, where she has been teaching Anatomy and Physiology laboratory courses for the past five years. She is also actively building two new ventures: Thrive Holistic Co-Working Community, a wellness-centered professional space launching May 1st that will include treatment rooms, office rentals, a classroom, conference space, and a podcast studio; and Thrive Everywhere, an online platform designed to help patients better navigate healthcare while supporting clinicians in launching and growing private practices through education and a dedicated private practice directory. Guided by a strong belief in restoring autonomy and connection in healthcare, she is committed to helping clinicians return to practice models that allow them to deliver care aligned with their clinical values, while empowering patients to better understand and engage in their own health journeys.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
I am so honored to be a part of the lives of my clients, and I love hearing other people's life stories. Now that I have my private practice, I love it again. I needed to make a change because working in the healthcare system was starting to erode my empathy, and I needed to take control of my career. Being able to practice on my own terms has reignited my passion for what I do.
