Kassandra Trala, LCPC, NCC, Mental Health Counselor, is a dedicated clinical mental health professional based in Chesapeake City, Maryland. She has been working as a counselor for almost five years, and her journey into this field began in middle school, supporting friends who struggled with suicidal ideation and self-harm. These early experiences sparked a natural passion for guiding others through emotional and mental health challenges. Kassandra currently works for a non-profit partnered with a residential program that supports clients transitioning out of hospital care, with many referrals coming from Midshore Behavioral Health on the Eastern Shore. She provides both in-person and telehealth counseling to individuals across the lifespan, with a particular focus on teens facing anxiety and depression.

Kassandra earned her Bachelor of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland, and completed her Master of Science in Clinical Psychology at Wilmington University in Delaware, a program she chose for its comprehensive preparation toward becoming an LCPC. Her academic background includes extensive research, including phenomenological studies on yoga and the mind-body connection, and projects exploring children’s educational aspirations. This combination of research and practical experience has shaped her evidence-based approach, blending talk therapy, humanistic perspectives, mindfulness, and movement-focused interventions to help clients overcome mental and emotional blocks.

Looking ahead, Kassandra is expanding her focus to include yoga therapy as a modality for trauma and complex PTSD, with plans to pursue certification in this area. She aspires to open a private practice within the next five years, allowing her to build on her nonprofit work and further explore holistic approaches to mental health. Throughout her career, she has remained committed to connecting clients with appropriate community resources, providing flexible and compassionate care, and fostering resilience and empowerment in every individual she serves.

Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

What I enjoy most about the work I do is seeing the clients feel successful in the things that they're choosing to do to be better for themselves. That's really what drives me - watching them take ownership of their healing journey and achieve the goals they set for themselves.
