Kari Pell, LPN
Kari Pell is a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse with more than three decades of experience in patient care, primarily in family medicine and clinical settings. Based in Terre Haute, Indiana, she currently serves at UAP Clinic, where she applies her extensive knowledge in triage, nursing management, and patient advocacy. Kari’s clinical background also includes meaningful work in hospice and long-term care, giving her a well-rounded perspective on supporting patients and families through all stages of health and illness. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Applied Health Sciences with a concentration in Public Health from Indiana State University, complementing her hands-on nursing expertise with a broader understanding of community health.
Beyond her clinical work, Kari is a passionate and deeply personal advocate for lung cancer awareness and research. Having lost multiple loved ones, including her mother, to cancer, she has transformed her grief into purpose by dedicating herself to education, outreach, and support for others facing similar challenges. She has been actively involved with organizations such as the GO2 Foundation for Lung Cancer and previously Free to Breathe, where she has contributed to advocacy efforts at both the community level and on Capitol Hill. Kari is also engaged in raising awareness about radon exposure as a critical and often overlooked risk factor, working with Citizens for Radioactive Radon Reduction to bring attention to this “silent killer.”
Kari’s work is driven by a strong belief in the power of advocacy and education to improve lives. She is committed to breaking the stigma surrounding lung cancer, emphasizing that anyone with lungs can be affected, and encouraging open, informed conversations within her community. Whether guiding patients through complex healthcare systems or supporting national advocacy initiatives, Kari brings compassion, resilience, and a tireless commitment to helping others. She remains open to opportunities that align with her passion for public health, environmental awareness, and cancer advocacy, while continuing to serve as a trusted nurse and advocate for those in need.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
What I enjoy most about nursing is helping people navigate healthcare, because in today's world, healthcare is not easy. I like to help them get better when they're not feeling well and just navigate their illness. I'm a huge advocate for people, and that's what nursing is - advocating for your patients. Some people don't have that advocate to speak up for them, and being that voice for my patients is what drives me every day.
