Karen Fosko, RN, is an experienced registered nurse with more than 30 years of clinical practice dedicated to providing high-quality patient care. She earned her Associate of Applied Science in Nursing from Montgomery College in Takoma Park, Maryland, in May 1992, laying the foundation for a long and impactful career in healthcare.

Karen currently works with Chenega Corporation in Gaithersburg, Maryland, where she provides occupational health services to federal and contractual employees. In this role, she performs triage in an urgent care setting, administers vaccines and flu shots, conducts hearing and pulmonary function testing, monitors vital signs, and manages medical documentation through electronic medical records.

Throughout her career, Karen has gained experience in several clinical specialties, including occupational health, post-anesthesia care (PACU), gastroenterology endoscopy, and family medicine. Much of her recent work has focused on occupational health nursing, where she conducts health screenings, diagnostic testing such as EKGs and spirometry, and assists physicians with examinations. She remains committed to continuing education and professional development, maintaining her CPR certification and earning her Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist (COHC) credential.

Karen is dedicated to staying current in her field by regularly reading the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) and pursuing additional certifications to enhance her clinical expertise. Her commitment to lifelong learning reflects her passion for delivering safe, effective, and up-to-date patient care.

Nursing is a strong family tradition for Karen, who is the sixth nurse on her mother’s side of the family, following her grandmother, two great aunts, and her aunt. Her passion for healthcare began during high school when she volunteered for three years at the Naval Hospital in Bethesda, earning a scholarship that helped her pursue her nursing education. Beyond her professional work, Karen has remained dedicated to serving her community, volunteering as a nurse with Meals on Wheels where she assessed clients’ well-being while delivering meals and ensuring they received proper care and support.
