June Roman, MSN, RN, PMHCNS-BC
June Roman, MSN, RN, PMHCNS-BC is a highly experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist in Mental Health, currently providing psychiatric consultation and counseling at Mercy LIFE West Philadelphia. She specializes in geriatric mental health, delivering individualized care and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to address a wide range of behavioral and psychiatric needs. Her clinical expertise spans decades, reflecting a deep commitment to improving mental health outcomes for older adults and the broader community.
June began her nursing career with a diploma from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) in 1969, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from La Salle University and a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania. During her 30-year tenure at HUP, she gained extensive experience in psychiatric care on Gates 10, 11, and Founders 11, and contributed to research examining the role of Advanced Practice Nurses in supporting individuals with serious mental illness who are HIV positive. She also taught psychiatric nursing at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, serving as Associate Course Director for undergraduate Psychiatric Nursing.
In addition to her academic and clinical work, June has served in multiple consulting and practice roles, including at the VNA of Greater Philadelphia (2000–2004), conducting HIV research through Penn Nursing starting in 2004, and in private practice from 2004–2012. She also held the role of Psych Consultant for Bayada: 2004–2012 (concurrent with teaching at Penn), providing guidance and support to healthcare providers and patients. Since 2016, she has focused on psychiatric care and consultation at Mercy LIFE, continuing her lifelong dedication to advancing mental health care, mentoring professionals, and supporting communities through compassionate, evidence-based practice.
