Julian Laverde, LMHC
Julian Laverde, LMHC, is a dedicated mental health counselor with more than a decade of experience in the evolving field of behavioral health. He officially became licensed in 2024, following years of hands-on clinical training that began as a Practicum Intern at the University of Miami from 2016 to 2018, and continued as a registered intern starting in 2018. Laverde earned his undergraduate degree from Florida International University before completing an intensive three-year graduate program at the University of Miami, where he developed both a strong theoretical foundation and practical clinical expertise under the mentorship of experienced leaders. These formative experiences helped shape his grounded, thoughtful, and pragmatic approach to care.
Currently practicing independently through BetterHelp, Laverde provides accessible virtual therapy services to individuals navigating a wide range of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, trauma, bipolar disorder, and borderline personality disorder. He specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused care, and psychopharmacology, bringing a multidimensional perspective that integrates both psychological and biological considerations into treatment. Certified in both trauma and pharmacology, he takes an eclectic, person-centered approach, tailoring each treatment plan to the unique needs of his clients. His work in telehealth reflects a modern, flexible approach to care delivery while maintaining a strong commitment to clinical excellence and meaningful client connection.
A member of the American Psychological Association, Laverde remains actively engaged in ongoing professional development and staying current with the latest research and best practices. Central to his clinical philosophy is the importance of psychoeducation, empowering clients to better understand their experiences and take an active role in their healing process. Inspired early on by witnessing the impact of trauma and mental health struggles, he has built a career rooted in compassion, curiosity, and a commitment to making care more accessible. As he looks to the future, Laverde plans to continue expanding his expertise, with aspirations of further certifications and potentially establishing a private practice, all while remaining focused on delivering personalized, evidence-based care that improves the lives of those he serves.
