Joshua Jalaty, RN
Joshua Jalaty is a dedicated registered nurse and aeromedical evacuation specialist serving with the United States Air Force in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area. With nearly a decade of nursing experience, he plays a critical role in transporting patients as part of airborne medical teams, transforming cargo aircraft into fully functional flying care units. His work ensures that patients receive timely, in-transit medical support, reflecting his commitment to high-quality, adaptable care in dynamic and often high-pressure environments.
Joshua began his nursing career in Ventura County, California, where he built a strong clinical foundation across skilled nursing and hospital settings. He gained hands-on experience at Coastal View Healthcare Center, Ojai Continuing Care Center, and Community Memorial Hospital–Ojai, developing expertise in patient care across diverse populations. These early roles helped shape his clinical judgment and adaptability, preparing him for the demands of military medicine. He earned his Associate of Science in Nursing from Ventura College and later completed his Bachelor of Science in Nursing through Capella University.
Since joining the Air Force in 2023, Joshua has specialized in aeromedical evacuation, working within an independent air medical squadron to deliver med-surg level care during patient transport missions. His experiences—including witnessing the long-term health impacts of environmental disasters like California wildfires—have deepened his understanding of complex healthcare challenges and strengthened his passion for service. Looking ahead, Joshua is focused on advancing into leadership and instructional roles, with the goal of mentoring and training the next generation of flight nurses.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
My big goal for the next 5 years is figuring out how to get some of those teaching positions to help new nurses learn what I learned to be able to do the same thing. I want to not just be able to fly as an air medical evacuation nurse, but be able to fill leadership roles and also be able to instruct new nurses who are looking to do the same thing I am. That would be my big goal, being able to break into those teaching positions.
