Joselynn Montgomery Brazier, MD
Joselynn (Josh) Brazier, MD, is a distinguished geriatrician with over 40 years of experience in clinical care, academia, and leadership roles within the U.S. Military, Department of Veterans Affairs, and Kaiser Permanente. Throughout his career, Dr. Brazier has dedicated himself to improving the health and well-being of older adults, with a particular focus on veterans. His expertise spans home-based primary care, long-term care management, hospice and palliative care, and outpatient clinical services. He is recognized for pioneering innovative geriatric care models that significantly enhanced patient outcomes, including a nationally notable reduction in VA nursing home admissions.
Dr. Brazier has also made substantial contributions to medical education and mentorship. He has trained generations of clinicians, including medical residents and nurse practitioners, fostering both clinical proficiency and compassionate care. As an Assistant Professor of Medicine at UCLA Health and Keck Medicine of USC, he led Home-Based Primary Care teams, implemented 360-degree performance evaluations, and established an academic nursing home to enhance collaborative learning among healthcare providers. His commitment to excellence in clinical training has been honored with multiple awards, including recognition from the Under Secretary of VA Benefits and the Chief of Internal Medicine.
Even in retirement, Dr. Brazier remains deeply engaged in advancing veteran healthcare. Following a professional pause for personal reflection, he continues to educate and assess veterans on disability eligibility, supporting healthcare networks with his expertise in medical record analysis, communication, and clinical evaluation. He has also contributed philanthropically, establishing a women-only scholarship program at Hampton University in memory of his late wife. Dr. Brazier’s career reflects a rare combination of clinical skill, leadership, and compassion, making him a trusted figure in geriatric medicine and veteran care.

Dr. Brazier has authored several publications throughout his career, focusing on advancing clinical care, improving patient outcomes, and addressing the unique needs of vulnerable populations. I have authored several publications throughout my career, reflecting my commitment to advancing clinical care and improving patient outcomes. My work includes “Angiogenesis in Necrotic Ulcers Treated with Hyperbaric Oxygen” (Ostomy Wound Management, 2000), which examined the use of hyperbaric oxygen to accelerate wound healing, and “Elder Abuse: Using Clinical Tools to Identify Clues of Mistreatment” (Geriatrics, 2000), which focused on recognizing elder abuse through careful clinical assessment. Earlier, I published “Gallium-67 Citrate Localization in Disseminated Sporotrichosis” (Clinical Nuclear Medicine, 1985), demonstrating how Ga-67 Citrate can define infection extent and monitor treatment progress. These publications underscore my dedication to evidence-based medicine and improving care for vulnerable populations.
