Jordan Houston, MS, is a dedicated mental health professional with over fifteen years of experience supporting individuals across Vermont’s mental health system. As a pre-licensed mental health counselor, she has specialized in crisis intervention, behavioral health, and community mental health services. Houston has provided emergency psychiatric assessments, supportive counseling, care coordination, and court screenings, working across hospitals, schools, law enforcement, and community settings to ensure clients receive timely and effective mental health support. Her work spans the full lifespan, from early childhood through geriatric care, giving her a unique perspective on developmental, emotional, and psychiatric needs. Houston’s academic foundation began at Norwich University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, followed by a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Southern New Hampshire University. She has built a career rooted in both clinical expertise and community engagement, including mentoring, coordinating and/or providing educational opportunities, and implementing treatment plans to support individuals with complex behavioral and emotional challenges. What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
I enjoy supporting individuals during critical moments of crisis, but I also find a lot of joy providing support outside of a crisis. I love collaborating with the individuals I serve, as well as my community partners, especially law enforcement or other medical providers, to navigate getting the best care for whoever and whatever the situation needs. It’s rewarding anytime my interventions have even a small positive impact on someone’s mental health and well-being.
