Dr. Joel Moncado, DNP, FNP-C
Dr. Joel Moncado, DNP, FNP is a dedicated healthcare professional whose career seamlessly blends clinical expertise, leadership, and humanitarian service. Based in San Antonio, Texas, he currently serves as a Family Nurse Practitioner at HCA Healthcare and has extensive experience in emergency nursing, including his role as lead nurse at a freestanding emergency department. With certifications in ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, ENCC, and TNCC, Dr. Moncado provides evidence-based care to diverse patient populations, including those facing complex medical and social challenges.
Dr. Moncado’s healthcare journey began as an EMT and firefighter, experiences that laid the foundation for his advanced nursing practice. He earned his Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Family Practice Nursing from UT Health San Antonio and is currently pursuing a Postgraduate Degree in Emergency Room/Trauma Nursing at UT Health Houston. His professional involvement extends internationally, having shared his expertise in Brazil and Kenya, focusing on improving healthcare access and outcomes in marginalized communities.
His global outreach work emphasizes education, sustainable health initiatives, and practical solutions that improve daily living and long-term health outcomes. In Kenya, he collaborated with local medical professionals and students on community health projects, while his work in Brazil deepened his understanding of global health disparities. Guided by faith and inspired by his mother, Dr. Moncado views nursing as a calling, combining compassion, knowledge, and leadership to serve both patients and communities worldwide.
Looking ahead, Dr. Moncado plans to continue his professional growth while completing his Emergency Nurse Practitioner program by August 2026. Beyond his clinical work, he remains committed to advocacy and outreach, partnering with organizations such as Samaritan First to provide care to underserved populations.
