Jenny T. Bencardino, MD, FACR is a distinguished Professor of Radiology and Vice-Chair of Academic Affairs at Montefiore Einstein, as well as a leading Musculoskeletal Radiologist. She began her academic career as an Assistant Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School and subsequently earned a full professorship in Radiology and Orthopedic Surgery at NYU School of Medicine. At Montefiore, Dr. Bencardino serves as Chair of the Promotions Committee and Faculty Affairs Liaison, overseeing initiatives that advance academic excellence and faculty development within the Department of Radiology. Dr. Bencardino earned her medical degree and diagnostic radiology certification from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia, before completing her residency in diagnostic radiology at Long Island Jewish Medical Center and a fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology at NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital. She is an active member of numerous professional organizations, including the American College of Radiology, the International Skeletal Society, the Society of Skeletal Radiology, and the Radiological Society of North America. Her research and clinical expertise focus on musculoskeletal imaging, muscle and nerve imaging, and advancing educational methodologies in radiology. A prolific author and editor, Dr. Bencardino has published 144 indexed articles and served as Guest Editor and Section Editor for leading radiology journals and texts. Her accolades include the RSNA Honored Educator Award, the International Skeletal Society President’s Medal, the ISS medal and multiple Editor’s Recognition Awards. She is also the author of The Shoulder: Imaging Diagnosis with Clinical Implications, a widely accessed reference with over 20,000 downloads. Throughout her career, Dr. Bencardino has combined clinical excellence, research innovation, and mentorship, making a profound impact on the field of radiology and the next generation of medical professionals.
