Jenna Derry, BSN, RN,
Jenna Derry, BSN, RN, is a dedicated cardiovascular critical care nurse whose career reflects both clinical excellence and a strong commitment to patient advocacy. With five years of experience in high-acuity cardiac care, she has earned a reputation for her technical skill, teamwork, and thoughtful approach to professional growth. Currently, she practices in cardiovascular critical care, where she manages patients with advanced cardiac devices, complex post-surgical recoveries, and life-sustaining therapies such as ECMO and continuous renal replacement therapy. In addition to her bedside responsibilities, Jenna serves as a preceptor, mentoring nurses to build confidence and competence in a demanding clinical environment.
Her passion for nursing was inspired early by her father’s work in the medical field and a pivotal experience witnessing a medical emergency during his cardiac catheterization. This moment solidified her commitment to care for patients during their most vulnerable times. Jenna began her career in cardiac step-down nursing and quickly transitioned into the intensive care unit during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. This challenging period strengthened her resilience, accelerated her clinical expertise, and reinforced her dedication to caring for critically ill patients.
Jenna attributes much of her success to teamwork and collaboration with nurses, physicians, and support staff, a commitment reflected in her unit being recognized as the top nursing unit of 2024 by M Live. She remains actively engaged in the profession through the Michigan Nurses Association and plans to pursue CCRN certification while exploring further education in forensic nursing. Outside the hospital, Jenna enjoys baking, cooking, and other creative pursuits that provide balance and renewal alongside her demanding nursing career.
