Jamil Luis Cruz

Jamil Luis Cruz is a dedicated Direct Support Staff professional at Anchor Health Homecare Services in Queens, New York, specializing in providing care and support for children with developmental disabilities. Drawing on both his professional expertise and personal experience, Jamil assists children in managing daily living skills, emotional regulation, and long-term goal achievement while partnering closely with families to ensure holistic care. Jamil’s journey into healthcare is deeply personal. Diagnosed with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis at the age of eighteen, he has navigated his own complex health journey while remaining actively involved in advocacy and support initiatives. He has participated in MS fundraising walks since childhood, a passion that continues through his team, Cruzin’ For a Cure, which supports research and awareness through the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. His lived experience informs his compassionate approach, inspiring trust and understanding in both the patients and families he works with.

Educationally, Jamil holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Brooklyn College and an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts and Sciences from Kingsborough Community College. Outside of his professional and advocacy work, he is an Eagle Scout, a Knight of Columbus, and an Assistant Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America. Jamil is also authoring a book chronicling his personal journey with multiple sclerosis, exemplifying his commitment to turning personal challenges into purpose-driven service. Through his career, advocacy, and creative projects, Jamil embodies resilience, empathy, and a lifelong dedication to helping others thrive.
