James Malveaux is a Registered Nurse with approximately 11 years of clinical experience in high-acuity and emergency care settings. He earned his Bachelor of Science with a major in Nursing from Texas Woman's University and has built a career centered on delivering efficient, patient-centered care. He is currently a Registered Nurse at Rapid Care, a freestanding emergency room in Houston, where he has worked since going back to Houston after travel nursing. In this environment, he provides comprehensive emergency care for a wide range of conditions, from chest pain and stroke symptoms to minor urgent care needs, while appreciating the efficiency and patient convenience that freestanding emergency care models provide compared to larger hospital systems. Throughout his career, James has primarily worked in large hospital emergency departments, including roles with St. Luke's Health, where he advanced to charge nurse and supported positive patient outcomes, staff education, and clinical onboarding. He has also served as a preceptor for nursing students and new graduate nurses, mentoring 6 learners over the past decade. In addition to direct clinical care, he has demonstrated strong leadership and operational skills through roles such as House Supervisor and emergency nursing positions where he helped develop systems to streamline workflows, improve triage processes, and support team-based care delivery. James is also committed to professional service and nursing leadership through his involvement with the Texas Nurses Association, where he is currently contributing to a leadership development project. He is passionate about advancing nursing practice through education, mentorship, and emerging technology, including recent certifications in AI productivity tools and prompt engineering. What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

What I enjoy most is being able to bring calm and clarity to patients during some of the most stressful moments of their lives. Whether it’s managing a critical situation or simply taking a moment to connect with someone who’s anxious or in pain, I value being able to make people feel seen, safe, and cared for.
