Jack “Skip” Keene, MD
Jack “Skip” Keene, MD, is a highly respected emergency medicine physician and educator whose career spans more than four decades of clinical practice, academic leadership, and service to organized medicine. A graduate of the Indiana University School of Medicine, where he completed both his medical degree and emergency medicine residency, Dr. Keene has dedicated his professional life to advancing emergency care, physician training, and hospital leadership within the Indiana healthcare community.
Dr. Keene served for over ten years as an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine, playing a pivotal role in educating and mentoring medical students and residents. His academic leadership includes serving as Director of the IU School of Medicine Transitional Year Residency Program from 1996 to 2006, as well as Medical Director of the EMS and Paramedic Training Program at Methodist Hospital from 1980 to 1988. His influence on graduate medical education and pre-hospital care has left a lasting impact on generations of physicians and emergency medical professionals.
In addition to his academic work, Dr. Keene held numerous senior leadership positions, including Medical Director of the IU Health North Hospital Emergency Department (2005–2012) and President of the Medical Staff at IU Health North Hospital (2012–2014). He also served as President of the Indiana Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians and President of the Methodist Hospital House Staff Alumni Association. A Life Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians and a Diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine, Dr. Keene is now retired, leaving behind a legacy defined by clinical excellence, institutional leadership, and unwavering commitment to the field of emergency medicine.
