Ivana Popovic, MSN, APRN, FNP-C

Ivana Popovic, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, is a Family Nurse Practitioner with extensive experience in critical care, neurosurgery, and acute hospital medicine. She currently practices at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan, where she provides advanced care for complex neurological and surgical patients, including both adult and pediatric populations. With a strong foundation built through years of hands-on nursing experience, she brings clinical precision, resilience, and compassion to every patient interaction.
Her healthcare career spans approximately two decades, beginning as a Certified Nursing Assistant and advancing through LPN and RN roles before earning her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Nursing from the University of Michigan-Flint. Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, she worked extensively in medical-surgical units, neurotrauma ICU, and hospice care, where she developed strong expertise in high-acuity and end-of-life care. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she served on the frontlines in critical care settings, including the COVID ICU, where she managed some of the most vulnerable patient populations.
Ivana is board certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB) and holds certifications in ACLS and BLS through the American Heart Association. She is highly skilled in interpreting electrocardiograms, managing IV therapies including vasoactive medications and sedatives, and providing comprehensive care for neurological conditions, wounds, and acute injuries. Her clinical practice is rooted in evidence-based medicine, patient education, and continuous professional development.
Throughout her career, Ivana has remained deeply committed to patient advocacy and lifelong learning. Originally from Bosnia, she was shaped early in life by experiences that fostered resilience and a strong desire to help others. As a single mother, she has balanced professional advancement with raising her son, who is now in college, demonstrating both dedication and perseverance in her personal and professional life.
Looking ahead, Ivana continues to focus on advancing her clinical expertise in neurosurgical and critical care medicine, with an interest in further academic development, including the potential pursuit of a doctoral degree. She is passionate about providing high-quality, compassionate care while supporting patients and families through some of the most challenging moments in their lives.
