Israel Sanchez, BSN RN

Israel Sanchez is a seasoned nursing leader with over 22 years of healthcare experience, including eight years specializing in infection control and quality management. A Navy veteran, he credits his military service for instilling discipline, structure, and leadership skills that have guided his professional journey. Currently, he serves as Director of Nursing at Trellis Paradise, overseeing an 83-bed transitional care center and leading with a focus on patient safety, dignity, and advocacy—especially for older adults with dementia and Alzheimer’s.

Israel began his nursing career as an LVN in 2005 and advanced to RN after completing his Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Texas Christian University in 2018. He also holds a Bachelor’s in Public Health with a concentration in Epidemiology and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Western Governors University. His career has spanned skilled nursing and transitional care facilities across California and Nevada, where he has implemented High Reliability Organization (HRO) principles to improve patient outcomes, safety, and operational excellence.

Throughout his career, Israel has been recognized for his expertise in infection prevention, patient-centered care, and quality improvement initiatives, including the successful mitigation of COVID-19 outbreaks in skilled nursing facilities. He actively volunteers with government organizations such as the Health Services Advisory Group (HSAG), AHRQ, and state public health departments to advance patient safety programs. A member of Sigma Theta Tau and the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC), Israel is passionate about mentoring healthcare professionals and fostering cultures of safety, resilience, and continuous learning.
