Ginger Beaubien, BSN, RN

Ginger Beaubien, BSN, RN, is a compassionate and dedicated nurse whose journey into healthcare began later in life, proving that purpose can be discovered at any stage. Inspired in her 40s by a nursing director who recognized her potential, Ginger pursued her calling with determination and excellence. She graduated cum laude from Marietta College with her associate degree and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing summa cum laude from Ohio University—an achievement made even more meaningful as she attended alongside her daughter. Her path reflects resilience, passion, and a deep commitment to personal and professional growth.

Throughout her nursing career, Ginger has served in a wide range of settings, including home care, pediatrics at a children’s hospital, school nursing, and supporting individuals facing drug and alcohol addiction. She is especially passionate about patient and family education, advocacy, and creating a sense of calm during challenging and emotional situations. Known for treating every patient like family, Ginger has been recognized for her exceptional care with honors such as the DAISY Award and a Patient Family Experience Rockstar Award—testaments to the meaningful impact she has made on countless lives.

Now semi-retired while caring for her own family, Ginger continues to give back through volunteer work with an orthopedic surgical team in Guatemala, where she finds fulfillment in delivering hands-on, patient-centered care to underserved communities. She remains inspired by the human connection at the heart of nursing and is exploring opportunities to return to the field in a capacity that prioritizes direct patient care. Guided by empathy and a lifelong desire to help others, Ginger exemplifies the true spirit of nursing—where advocacy, compassion, and service come first.

Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

What I love most about nursing is really taking a deep breath and bringing not just my mother experience, but all of those experiences, and helping people understand what's happening so they're not anxious. If they're calm, their babies will be calm, you know, everything is going to be okay. It's just that real encouraging presence. I love my patients and my families. I absolutely love educating families, being encouraging, and helping to keep them calm when things don't seem to be going right. I have had so many compliments on that. Even in the adult world, I had people tell me how grateful they were. I worked at a place where there was a lot of drug and alcohol abuse, and I always tried to just be an advocate for those people. Sometimes they come at you because they had a bad experience with their day nurse, and then you come on as a night shift nurse, and they just want to kill you, and you're like, whoa, whoa, whoa, let's see what we can do. I'm not that other person. Let's communicate, let's figure out what's going on. I think that's what I love. I didn't have patients really ever hate me. I always told them, if this isn't a good fit, I'm okay. You can always have another nurse, and that's okay with me. Even as a student nurse, I was like, you don't have to have us in here if you don't want us here, if you're uncomfortable. We can leave, we'll find someone else, because I think that's important, to advocate for your patients, which then also means advocating for their families. That's how I looked at it. Everyone is my family member when I have them.
