Georgia McPartlan, BSN, RN, CWS, OMS, is a Certified Wound Specialist and Ostomy Management Specialist currently practicing at Memorial Hermann Health System in the Texas Medical Center. A registered nurse since 2009, Georgia has dedicated her career to advancing wound and ostomy care within Level I trauma hospitals, first at Erie County Medical Center Corporation in Buffalo, New York, and now in Houston, Texas. Her clinical background spans PACU, medical-surgical, orthopedic, and ICU settings, giving her a comprehensive understanding of complex patient needs across the continuum of care. She holds national certifications through the American Board of Wound Management (CWS) and the National Alliance of Wound Care & Ostomy (OMS), reflecting her advanced expertise in skin integrity, wound healing, and ostomy management.

Before entering nursing, Georgia built a strong foundation in holistic wellness. She began her career as an esthetician in 2000, became a licensed massage therapist in 2007, and later earned both her nursing degree and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Trocaire College in Buffalo, New York, completing her BSN in 2012. Her lifelong passion for skincare seamlessly evolved into specialized wound care practice. She also trained in hyperbaric oxygen therapy at Memorial Hermann until an eardrum injury prevented her from continuing dive treatments. Committed to education, Georgia teaches a continuing education course for nurses titled Skin Defenders, equipping healthcare professionals to differentiate pressure injuries from other wound types while deepening their knowledge of skin anatomy and physiology.

In addition to her clinical work, Georgia is a Reiki Master Teacher and professional member of the International Center for Reiki, integrating energy-based healing principles into her patient-centered approach. She is an active member of the American Nurses Association and the American Holistic Nurses Association, reflecting her commitment to blending evidence-based medicine with holistic care. Passionate about nurse well-being, she participates in hospital committees such as Code Lilac and is collaborating with rehabilitation services to develop a de-stress room aimed at combating burnout and compassion fatigue. Guided by both clinical excellence and spiritual awareness, Georgia remains dedicated to healing the whole person—body, mind, and spirit.

She is part of Code Lilac at Memorial Hermann and participates in several hospital committees including HAPI committees (hospital-acquired pressure injuries) and skin counsel. She previously served as chair for the skin champs program, which involves prevalence tracking and NDNQY reporting.
