Gayle Intrieri, MSW
Gayle Intrieri, MSW, is a seasoned medical social worker specializing in hospice and palliative care, bringing nearly a decade of experience supporting patients and families during end-of-life transitions. Known for her compassion, empathy, and clinical insight, she is highly skilled in psychosocial assessment, bereavement counseling, and crisis intervention. Her work centers on guiding individuals and families through grief, complex decision-making, and emotional challenges with dignity and clarity.
Gayle’s career is shaped by both professional dedication and personal experience. Before entering hospice care, she spent more than a decade working with special needs children, developing a deep understanding of human resilience and the importance of supportive care. The experience of caring for her late mother-in-law, who lived with dementia, inspired her commitment to improving the support systems families rely on during serious illness. Gayle holds a Master of Social Work with an emphasis in Clinical/Medical Social Work and Gerontology from California State University, Fullerton, as well as multiple certifications in crisis prevention, intimate partner violence, trauma-focused CBT, and CPR/First Aid.
Beyond direct patient care, Gayle is active in community education and advocacy. She regularly conducts large-scale hospice and end-of-life education sessions, speaking to hospital teams and community groups of up to 400 attendees each quarter. Colleagues value her ability to navigate difficult conversations, ask essential questions, and advocate effectively for vulnerable individuals. Outside of her professional role, she enjoys spending time with her four dogs and two cats, along with following the sports she loves—especially baseball, football, and hockey.
