Evalynne Basso, MSN, FNP-BC
Evalynne Basso, MSN, FNP-BC, is a dedicated Family Nurse Practitioner whose career reflects clinical excellence, leadership development, and a strong commitment to patient-centered care. With 11 years of nursing experience and four years in advanced practice, she has built a reputation for delivering high-quality care in fast-paced clinical environments while emphasizing prevention, education, and long-term health outcomes. Her approach combines evidence-based medicine with a holistic philosophy, allowing her to support patients across the lifespan with compassion and clinical precision.
Currently practicing with OSF HealthCare, Basso works independently in an urgent care clinic where she serves as the sole provider, managing between 40 and 60 patients during each 12-hour shift. This high-volume setting has strengthened her diagnostic efficiency, adaptability, and ability to provide compassionate care under pressure. She completed a nationally recognized urgent care fellowship through OSF HealthCare as part of the program’s inaugural cohort, receiving extensive mentorship and advanced clinical training during a critical period when hands-on experience was limited due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Basso is now transitioning into emergency medicine, where she will serve as a Supervisor Nurse Practitioner. In this newly developed hybrid role, she will help build and define the supervisory position while continuing direct patient care, working two clinical days and one leadership day each week. Her transition reflects both her clinical expertise and her growing passion for leadership, collaboration, and improving care delivery through strong team dynamics and transparent communication.
Her professional interests extend beyond acute care into women’s health, functional medicine, and integrated medicine. She is also beginning a telehealth role focused on weight management and chronic disease prevention, an area she believes represents a necessary evolution in healthcare. Basso is passionate about shifting the medical model toward lifestyle-based interventions and patient education, recognizing that many chronic health challenges require preventative and holistic strategies rather than episodic treatment alone. Guided by a love for continuous learning, she strives to expand her knowledge to better serve her patients and improve long-term health outcomes.
Basso earned her Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner degree from United States University, graduating with a 4.0 GPA. She also holds a health coaching certification through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and maintains certifications in BLS and ACLS. A member of the Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, she remains committed to professional growth and excellence in nursing practice. Through her work as a clinician, educator, and emerging leader, Evalynne Basso represents a new generation of nurse practitioners dedicated to advancing healthcare through compassion, innovation, and patient empowerment.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
I thrive a lot off of learning, because the more I know, the more I can help my patients. That's what really drives me in this field. I've reached a point in urgent care where I want to learn more, and for me to do that, the only way is to go into leadership and challenge myself in the emergency department. I still learn in urgent care, but it's not as frequent as when I first started. I'm really excited about teaching patients, especially about lifestyle changes and how to approach chronic conditions differently than acute conditions. I believe our healthcare system needs to change its approach, and I love being able to educate patients about health and help them make meaningful changes in their lives.
