Erin Newton

Erin Newton, RN, M.Sc. is a highly accomplished healthcare professional and scientist with extensive experience in both clinical practice and environmental project management. She currently serves as a Registered Nurse at Craig Hospital, where she contributes to the Rehabilitation and Research Team, providing expert patient care in neurorehabilitation and supporting clinical research initiatives. Erin has represented Craig Hospital at regional healthcare symposiums, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to advance evidence-based practices, improve patient outcomes, and integrate innovative approaches into rehabilitation nursing.

Prior to her career in healthcare, Erin built 15 years of experience as a geoscientist and project manager, working across a wide range of disciplines including mineral and oil and gas exploration, resource modeling and estimation, mine reclamation, nuclear waste sampling and containment design, paleontological resource preservation, and environmental remediation. She has managed deep borehole and well installations, performed geophysical data interpretation, produced comprehensive environmental and resource evaluation reports, and trained staff on specialized software for logging, modeling, and mapping. Erin is highly skilled in regulatory compliance with NEPA, CERCLA, RCRA, and state-specific environmental regulations, designing sampling and drill-hole programs, managing databases, preparing reports, and overseeing budgets and logistics for complex field projects. She is a certified ISO 14001 Lead Assessor in Environmental Management Systems, OSHA and MSHA certified, and has provided QA/QC oversight for nationwide Department of Energy Legacy Management sites.

In addition to her professional achievements, Erin is an accomplished musician and entrepreneur. She has operated Alpenglow Harp Studio for over a decade, teaching students of all ages and performing at events ranging from weddings to symphonies. Through this work, she has developed exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Erin holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Colorado Anschutz, graduating magna cum laude, and a Master of Science in Geology from the University of Otago. Fluent in Spanish and highly skilled in both clinical and technical disciplines, Erin combines analytical expertise, interdisciplinary collaboration, and a commitment to excellence to make meaningful contributions in healthcare, environmental science, and community engagement.
