Ericka Woods, PhD

Licensed Clinical Psychologist
Connecticut College
New London, CT 06320

Dr. Ericka C. Woods is a licensed clinical psychologist with over 24 years of clinical experience. She is a seasoned generalist with particular expertise in women’s mental health, anxiety, depression, grief, and career transitions. Throughout her career, Dr. Woods has worked extensively with older adolescents and young adults, and her current clinical focus spans the adult developmental continuum—from emerging adulthood through later life stages—especially individuals navigating identity shifts, career changes, and major life transitions.
Dr. Woods earned her undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Rochester and completed her PhD in clinical psychology at Long Island University, Brooklyn campus. She has received extensive training in evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, cognitive processing therapy, and psychodynamic approaches, and she is also DBT-informed. She is an active member of professional organizations such as the American Psychological Association and the Connecticut Psychological Association, and she has a history of involvement with the New York Psychological Association.
Currently, Dr. Woods is transitioning from her role at a college counseling center into full-time private practice. She plans to offer both telehealth and in-person services, expanding access to care for a broader and more diverse client base. Her clinical mission centers on serving underserved and often overlooked populations, with a particular emphasis on women and women of color in leadership roles—groups she identifies as experiencing increasing mental health strain, including rising rates of depression, burnout, and suicide risk.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Woods has experience in teaching, lecturing, public speaking, and co-authoring professional publications. Her therapeutic perspective is shaped not only by her formal training but also by lived experience, including navigating the loss of three immediate family members within a single year, which deepened her understanding of grief and resilience. She remains deeply committed to helping clients find meaning, stability, and direction during periods of profound personal and professional change.
