Eric Lynn Dodson, DO
Dr. Eric Dodson, DO is a seasoned osteopathic pediatrician who leads the practice at All Ages Pediatrics in Ottumwa, Iowa, bringing a deep commitment to child health and family care. His journey into pediatrics was shaped by early experiences in pediatric psychiatric settings, working with adolescents and children in hospital and long-term residential environments, which built a foundation of empathy and holistic thinking. Over the years, he has combined his background in psychology and medicine to serve young patients not just physically, but emotionally and developmentally as well.
Dr. Dodson began his medical training by earning a BS in Biology (Pre-Med) before completing medical school in 2000, followed by residency and pediatric training at Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. By 2003, he was certified in Pediatrics and relocated to Ottumwa, where he has since built deep roots in the community. In addition to his clinical work, he has taken on leadership roles—serving as past Chief of Medical Staff at the local hospital, participating in regional medical boards, and working in church and community leadership.
At All Ages Pediatrics, Dr. Dodson offers a broad spectrum of care spanning newborn care, preventive and well-child services, allergy and immunotherapy treatment, injury care, and psychiatric services such as ADHD and anxiety management. He maintains admitting privileges at Ottumwa Regional Health Center, ensuring continuity of care for patients who need hospitalization. Away from medicine, he enjoys boating, bicycling, video games and video game testing, and fishing—interests that reflect his balanced approach to life and his dedication to serving families both inside and outside the clinic.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
What I enjoy most about practicing medicine is watching children grow up. It’s incredibly rewarding to see my patients thrive—from their first checkups as newborns to their milestones throughout childhood and adolescence and eventually, seeing them start their own families. Being part of that journey, supporting both their health and their families along the way, is one of the greatest privileges of my career.
