Emily Moehlmann, MSW
Emily is a dedicated social worker based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, with a focus on supporting incarcerated individuals and those on probation. Since graduating with her Master of Social Work from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s advanced standing program, she has quickly taken on a leadership role at Helen Ross McNabb, where she runs a newly established Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) program at the Hamilton County Jail. In this role, she provides individual therapy, develops daily group curriculum, and oversees a comprehensive program that combines therapy with medication support for participants.
Her career is driven by a deep commitment to underserved populations, particularly those navigating the intersection of mental health and substance use challenges. Emily’s approach emphasizes empathy, connection, and respect, allowing her to build meaningful relationships with clients in environments that are often male-dominated and politically complex. Her dedication to her clients’ well-being and her innovative program design reflect her strong belief in addressing systemic barriers and promoting rehabilitation.
Looking ahead, Emily hopes to expand her impact nationally by helping correctional facilities develop effective MAT and re-entry programs while educating staff on therapeutic strategies for working with inmates. She is passionate about creating programs that improve access to mental health treatment and support individuals in building healthier, more stable lives, ultimately contributing to a more compassionate and effective correctional system.
