What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
What I enjoy most about being a nurse leader is the opportunity to make a meaningful difference for both patients and the individual nursing teams I work with. I take pride in mentoring and supporting diverse healthcare colleagues, from new graduates to seasoned nurses, and helping them succeed in high-pressure situations. Early in my career, I safely led my team through three simultaneous cardiac codes on a Christmas Eve night shift—a challenging experience that strengthened my ability to remain calm under pressure, advocate for patient safety, and guide my colleagues effectively. Moments like these continually remind me that nursing is as much about leadership, teamwork, and mentorship as it is about clinical expertise.
