Elizabeth Manning, APRN
Elizabeth Manning, MSN, APRN, AGNP-C, is a dedicated Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner and palliative care specialist with more than 25 years of nursing experience. She currently serves as a Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner at The Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, where she provides compassionate, patient-centered care focused on symptom management, serious illness support, and quality of life. Her clinical background spans surgical nursing, midwifery, pediatrics, and medical-surgical care, reflecting a well-rounded and deeply experienced nursing career that began in 1998 after graduating in Kenya, Africa.
Elizabeth’s passion for geriatrics began long before her professional training. As a child, she regularly helped older adults in her community—fetching firewood and assisting with daily needs—an early calling that shaped her lifelong commitment to caring for the elderly. She earned her nurse practitioner degree in 2018 from Ursuline College in Pepper Pike, Ohio, where she completed her master’s degree and later a post-master’s certificate in palliative care nursing. Prior to her current role, she practiced as a Nurse Practitioner at The MetroHealth System and has also worked in skilled nursing facilities, providing comprehensive care to geriatric populations. She is passionate about health education and frequently teaches patients and families to empower them in managing chronic and complex conditions.
In addition to clinical practice, Elizabeth has a strong background in education and mentorship. While completing her bachelor’s degree, she tutored anatomy and physiology at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C), demonstrating her commitment to academic excellence and student support. Her professional achievements include induction into the Hall of Fame at Ursuline College—where her image has been featured on institutional billboards—and recognition as one of the “Faces of Nurses of East Ohio.” An active member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Elizabeth remains engaged in advancing the profession while continuing her lifelong mission of serving and uplifting older adults.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
I just love working with older folks - it's something I've been passionate about since I was a kid. Even before I knew I wanted to become a nurse, I was always going to older people's houses to help them fetch firewood, to help them with whatever they needed. My sisters laugh about it because it's just always been part of who I am. Older people need care, and I find so much fulfillment in providing that care. They have great stories, they're usually respectful, and they care about who's caring for them. I've done other things in nursing - surgical nursing, midwifery, pediatrics, med-surg - but geriatrics is where my heart is. I also love health education and teach it a lot to my patients. There's something special about being able to educate and care for the geriatric population.
