Edward Zhovtis, CRNA, is a highly skilled Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist with extensive experience in both clinical practice and academic instruction. He began his healthcare career in 1994 as a paramedic, gaining hands-on experience in emergency care at an ambulance company and in the Emergency Department of Children’s Memorial Medical Center. After completing his pre-medical studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2000, Ed contributed to pediatric injury prevention research at Children’s Hospital, reflecting his early commitment to improving patient outcomes. Following his research experience, Ed pursued nursing, earning his RN/BSN from Loyola University in 2003 and joining the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Rush North Shore Medical Center. That same year, he commissioned into the US Army Nurse Corps, serving for a decade and rising to the rank of Captain/CRNA. During his military service, Ed was deployed to Afghanistan in 2009 and 2011, where he provided comprehensive anesthesia care under austere conditions to wounded service members, NATO allies, and the local population. In 2008, he earned his MSN in Nurse Anesthesia from Rush University, solidifying his expertise in perioperative and critical care anesthesia. Since completing his advanced training, Ed has served as a CRNA at Rockford Anesthesiologists Associated and Centegra Health System, contributing over a decade of clinical excellence in both community and academic hospital settings. In addition to his clinical practice, he has been a faculty member at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science’s Nurse Anesthesia Program since 2012, mentoring the next generation of anesthesia professionals. He completed his doctoral degree in nurse anesthesia practice from Rosalind Franklin University in 2017. Additionally, in 2022, he founded and has been operating a chronic pain management clinic in Black River Health hospital in Black River Falls, Wisconsin.

Fluent in Russian and Hebrew, Ed combines linguistic versatility with deep clinical knowledge to deliver high-quality, culturally competent care across diverse patient populations.
