Edward Zhovtis, CRNA, is a highly skilled Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist with a robust background in both clinical practice and academic instruction. He began his healthcare career in 1994 as a paramedic, gaining hands-on experience in emergency care at an ambulance company and the Emergency Department of Children’s Memorial Medical Center. After completing his pre-medical studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2000, he contributed to pediatric injury prevention research at Children’s Hospital, demonstrating an early commitment to improving patient outcomes. Ed earned his RN/BSN from Loyola University in 2003 and joined the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Rush North Shore Medical Center, further developing his expertise in critical care nursing.

In 2003, Ed commissioned into the US Army Nurse Corps, where he served for a decade, achieving the rank of Captain/CRNA. During his military service, he was deployed to Afghanistan in 2009 and 2011, providing comprehensive anesthesia care under challenging conditions to wounded service members, NATO allies, and local populations. He earned his MSN in Nurse Anesthesia from Rush University in 2008, strengthening his skills in perioperative and critical care anesthesia. Following his military career, Ed applied his extensive experience in civilian practice at Rockford Anesthesiologists Associated and Centegra Health System, delivering high-quality anesthesia care in both community and academic hospital settings.

In addition to his clinical work, Ed has been a dedicated educator since 2012, serving as faculty in the Nurse Anesthesia Program at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, where he earned his doctoral degree in nurse anesthesia practice in 2017. In 2022, he founded a chronic pain management clinic at Black River Health Hospital in Black River Falls, Wisconsin. Fluent in Russian and Hebrew, Ed combines linguistic versatility with clinical expertise to provide culturally competent care, mentoring the next generation of anesthesia professionals and advancing patient care across diverse populations.
